Sunset

The sun slowly sinks back into the earth to set
A little orange ball glowing red with its beautiful rays of light gently caressing the ripples of the lake's waters

A frame is captured in one's mind:

Peace

The waters are still: creating a calm that speaks to your inner soul
A beauty indescribable, merely by a set of words
A beauty touched only by one's conscience

Glancing into this horizon traps a troubled mind into an island of reflection
The result: an appreciation of Mother Nature.
Once a force, raging with destruction: the waters, the wind mellow down (It is Well)
Calm - a feeling that overwhelms the air: Forms of life , for the day had been alive pay tribute:

That they had a life.

Retiring and appreciating as the sun sets on yet another chapter
Still - yet still the swamps tarnish not this image, an additional accessory to accentuate the remarkable outlook.

The mountainsides bow down as they fade away into the fog of peace, that blankets the sun
Whisky clouds whisper lullaby's to the earth, the birds hum along(It is well)

"Peace be still
Like a child
The winds obey Him
When He sets peace"

  1. During a boat cruise at Lake Chivero, Harare, Zimbabwe, I experienced the beauty of watching the sun set, it was a majestic scenario, befitting a king.

The last time i had felt such a calm was when I was a child, before I had any fears, before the world had corrupted me into a pool of paranoia, after I graduated from the realms of naivety.

The beauty of the sun disappearing back into the earth and the effect it has on the water in the lake as well as its ripples can not be described in a mere set of beautiful words.

When one is engulfed in this frame that illustrates the Magnificence of the Almighty, One can not help but feel so much at ease, and come to a collision with the personification of peace.

I was particularly touched and pushed toward writing this piece, originally entitled "Watching as the Sun Sets", I felt we as humans, still have a link with nature, and that link can afford us the platform for us to clear up, detox and be at harmony with nature... far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

How do you feel about this piece? let me know and I will mail you a collection of my poems, enzomack54@gmail.com or facebook.com/ernest.com

Thank you for reading this poem. God Bless
