First Rains

Last night the first rains fell ...
Last night,
God's Grace I felt

The manifestation of a new hope...

Along with the promise of a fruitful season.

I watched as the first rains fell last night:

I watched in the dark as the dry earth cried tears ...

Beautiful tears, that brought back life.

As each droplet fell from the open sky,

As each droplet of faith percolated into the ground...

Last night,

I watched as the first rains fell.

  1. Growing up, one vital life's lesson I learnt was that there is a time for everything, and everything is afforded a chance.

There is a time to sow, a time to plant, and a time to reap and harvest... A verse for Harvest.

This piece was quite symbolic and emphasizes the fact that no matter how bleak things may be, the sun will shine again.

Here in Africa, the coming of the first rains brings along a new hope. In the time of drought and when the land is barren of hope, each rain drop is a seed of hope of a brighter, greener tommorow.

The first rains wash away all the pain of the previous seasons and renews a broken love. The first rains cleanse away all hate, anger and rage and present a chance at rebirth and repentance.

The first rains present a chance to start anew, a fresh start, a chance to turn over a new leaf.

My intention in this piece was to remind myself and everybody that even in the face of adversity, have the patience to weather the storm and faith to see it through... a new season shall arrive, where you can sing " A Verse for Harvest" http://mackinaernest54.blogspot.com/2012/05/verse-for-harvest.html
